How it works

Everything between an empty berth and a boat tied up

OceanOps Berths connects boat owners looking for a berth, mooring or hardstand with the people who have one to spare — and gives marina operators a home for their whole marina. Browsing is open to everyone; you only sign up when you’re ready to book or list. Here’s the full picture.

For boaters

Find and book a spot

Search the whole marketplace with no account. When you find a berth that fits, a booking is a simple request-and-confirm — no upfront payment wall.

01

Search

Browse berths, swing moorings and hardstands by region, dates and your vessel size — LOA, beam and draft. No login needed to look.

02

Check the fit

Every listing shows its maximum length, beam and draft, so you can see at a glance whether your boat fits before you enquire.

03

Request to book

Found a fit? Send a booking request with your dates. Sign up only when you’re ready — it’s free, and no syndicate is required.

04

Confirm & settle

The lister confirms availability and shares private contact details. Settle in and enjoy the water.

For berth owners

Turn an empty berth into income while your boat’s away

If you own a berth or manage a syndicate, list your home berth for short stays or a full season whenever your vessel is out on the water — and let the platform handle the money.

01

List it

Add your berth, mooring or hardstand — location, size limits, amenities and photos, at a nightly, weekly, monthly or seasonal rate.

02

Set availability

Mark the dates it’s free and block out the times you need it yourself. Bookings only ever land on open dates.

03

Take bookings or a lease

Approve one-off booking requests, or set up a recurring or seasonal lease for a regular tenant — your choice.

04

Get paid

Connect secure payouts once. Managed leases collect rent automatically, take the platform fee, and pay the rest to your bank.

Two ways to rent it out

Casual bookings or an ongoing lease

Rent your berth by the night or the week, or set up a repeating arrangement for a regular tenant. You can do both.

One-off

Bookings

Best for short stays and casual rentals

  • Renters request specific dates; you approve or decline.
  • Approving instantly blocks those dates — no double-booking.
  • Vessel-fit is checked against your size limits automatically.
  • Settle directly with the renter, or on-platform where enabled.
Recurring

Leases

Best for a regular, ongoing tenant

  • Bill weekly, fortnightly, monthly or for a fixed season.
  • Managed: rent is collected automatically and paid out to you, less the platform fee.
  • Record-only: track the arrangement while you handle the money yourself.
  • Optional refundable bond; cancel or renew any time.

For marina operators

Claim your marina and manage every berth

Already listed in our directory of Australian marinas? Claim it and make it yours. Not there yet? Add it. Then manage all your berths in one place.

01

Claim or add

Claim your marina from the directory — instant when your email matches its website domain — or add a new one for quick review.

02

Enrich it

Add your website, phone, description and photos so your marina page earns trust and enquiries.

03

List & manage berths

List berths against your marina and manage bookings, leases and payouts together — grouped under your marina.

Payments & peace of mind

Built to be safe on both sides

Secure payouts

Bank details are entered only on Stripe’s secure pages — never stored by us. Managed rent pays straight to your account.

Your data stays yours

Only whitelisted listing details are ever public. Other owners can’t see your listings, bookings or leases.

No surprises on fit

Size limits are shown up front and checked on every request, so a boat that’s too big is flagged before booking.

No double-bookings

Approving a request locks those dates atomically — two renters can never be confirmed for the same window.

Renting out a berth or mooring often needs the marina’s or licence-holder’s permission, and full vessel and public-liability insurance is usually required to occupy one. OceanOps Berths facilitates advertising, bookings and payments — it doesn’t provide legal, tenancy, financial or navigational advice. Please confirm permissions and insurance with your marina.

Questions

Good to know

Do I need an account to browse?

No. Anyone can search and view listings with no login. You only sign up when you’re ready to book a berth or list one — and a personal account is free, with no subscription or syndicate required.

What's the difference between a booking and a lease?

A booking is a one-off rental for set dates. A lease is a recurring arrangement — weekly, fortnightly, monthly or seasonal — for an ongoing tenant. Listers can offer either or both.

How does payment work?

Managed leases collect rent automatically through secure payouts, with the platform fee deducted before the rest is paid to the lister. One-off bookings and record-only leases can be settled between the parties directly.

I run a marina — how do I get started?

Claim your marina from our directory (instant if your email domain matches its website), or add it for a quick review. Then enrich the profile and list your berths — all managed together.

Is my personal information exposed publicly?

No. Only a whitelisted set of listing fields is ever public. Personal details are shared privately only once a booking is confirmed.
